Italian Rococo Gilt Bronze Framed Art “L'Indifférent” by Jean-Antoine Watteau
$70.00
L'Indifférent by Jean-Antoine Watteau
A magnificently framed Italian Rococo print of L'Indifférent, by Jean Antoine-Watteau.
The print itself, "L'Indifférent", often translates as "The Indifferent Lover" or "The Casual One". This masterpiece was originally painted in 1717, and is presently housed at the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
The subject portrays an elegantly dressed, carefree gentleman suspended in stillness and motion, floating effortlessly showing a fluid dance step, against a soft twilight park backdrop. Dressed in its era of French blue silks, coral draped cape, and flowered hat.
The pastel colors bring an ethereal mood, with subtle emotional depth.
The Italianate frame, is just as dreamy...a highly ornate gilt bronzed frame of beautiful scrollwork throughout, with protective glass.
An elegant art piece for gallery wall goals, or bringing romanticism to one's home.
In excellent condition, has back hook for hanging, red velvet backing, and hallmarked & stamped Italy.
Would be just as exquisite with an easel, for table decor.
